Good news for Android Wear users, because Google released the list of smart watches getting update of Android 8.0 Oreo. Google announced this update on Google plus group named Android Wear Developers. As per previous update it seems like currently only LG Watch Sport getting this update because it already run Android O beta version earlier in October month.
Google Wear’s last update was Android Wear 2.0 which was released earlier this year that too on LG Watch Sport smart watch. Android wear have it’s own interface and set of features like Android TV and developed separately. In this Android Oreo update user facing features will not be changed.
Apple has the giant market in smart watch industry and Android wear not doing well at all. In Q1 2017 Apple watch has 57 percent market share followed by Samsung’s Tizen OS (19%) and Android Wear only 18% with third place.
As per Arstechnica study, Android Wear’s biggest issue is not it’s software but the smartwatch chips. Apple and Samsung make their own chip where as Google had to assemble it with either Qualcomm or Snapdragon. Both Apple and Samsung are building faster, cooler and smaller chips which make smartphone’s performance really quick.
